Here are 12 of my top fall wardrobe basics every closet needs

OVERSIZED BLAZER

We are only three blog posts in and we’ve already spoken a bunch about how much I love a good oversized blazer. It’s so versatile it can go from business to brunch to date night! It can also be used as lightweight outerwear and a layering piece in the cooler months.

DENIM JEAN

All hail the mighty jean. Is anyone surprised denim is on this list? It is another versatile wardrobe basic that can be worn SO MANY WAYS. And when you find the right pair you will never want to be rid of them!

My denim fits of choice are a high rise straight leg and a boyfriend jean. I think these are classic yet modern, and works best with my style vibes. I also like that they are 100% cotton, which makes them both more durable and sustainable.

What denim are you wearing? Remember style is not cookie-cutter, and it’s about finding what works for your lifestyle and personality.

TROUSER

If you want to wear pants but need something more polished then denim, go for your trusty trouser. It doesn’t have to be so basic either, try different silos and fabrics. I like for my trousers to be a wide leg, giving a more street vibe then suitings.

ATHLEISURE SET

Given the state of the world these past six months, I’m sure we all have several athleisure options in our closet. Wear it as is as a simple co-ord set or mix it up with some other key items in your closet. Tee + Blazer + Athleisure Bottom = Perfect Zoom Look.

MID-CALF BOOT

Mid-calf boots are the most versatile and freshest looking boot silo. Easily worn with any pant, skirt, or dress length, it’s the definition of a wardrobe essential. Mid-calf boots come in all kinds of heel shapes and sizes, but my favorites have to be the lug sole and the block heel.

OLD SCHOOL KICKS

Sneakers are no longer just for the gym. They are FASHION. Wear them with the most feminine frocks and your suitings alike. Rock them with anything for a cool, street vibe. I’m partial to my high top Converse and slip-on Vans. If you’re looking for options, check out my old school kicks edit.

OVERCOAT

To me, a good overcoat looks so luxe. It never goes out of style and instantly polishes any look. It’s a great outerwear piece for fall, and when it gets a little cooler I like to double it up with a denim or moto  jacket.

MOTO JACKET

If there is one piece in my closet that when I put it on, I instantly feel stronger, it’s this one. I LOVE how fashion has the ability to do this, and it’s why I do what I do!

A moto jacket can last a lifetime in your closet, and like most items on this list, it can be worn with pretty much anything. I especially love wearing mine with floral prints or something lacy, the juxtaposition gives the look a certain toughness and edge.

KNIT DRESS

This is a 2020 WFH update to the LBD. You can still look cute, put together, and be comfy. Pair it with sneakers, boots, or heels. I love how modern, sleek, and elevated this wardrobe basic is. Style it alone or as the base in a chic layered look.

MODERN TEE

This simple cool tee will instantly elevate your outfit. The fresh modern silo first started popping up last year and I became instantly obsessed. And, by the looks of it, so are lots of other fashionistas too! The silo is EVERYWHERE from designer to high street. I’ve even begun to upcycle old tees to recreate this new wardrobe essential.

LIGHTWEIGHT KNIT BODYSUIT

The nineties called, and it’s official: the bodysuit is back. And I couldn’t be more pleased! It’s effortless and streamlined, as well as the perfect base layer. Like the rest of the wardobe basics on the list, it can be worn with anything.

JUMPSUIT

Yes, a jumpsuit is a wardrobe essential for a versatile and effortless closet! I’ve already shown you six ways to wear one, and there are endless more. At its simplest: throw some kicks on those feet. One and done. But don’t stop there. Get adventurous with your fashion choices and play with accessories and layering pieces.
