How to Clean White Suede Sneakers Using Everyday Household Items In 5 Easy Steps

Ahhh, there is nothing like putting on those new spanking white kicks for the first time. Keeping those kicks spanking white is a whole other thing entirely. So what can you do to clean our white suede sneakers? Let’s look into it!

Believe it or not, you can clean your white suede sneakers quite easily with items you most likely have in your household pantry!  What are the items, you asked? Here is the hit list: Distilled white vinegar, an old toothbrush and/or nail brush, a white cotton washcloth, and a magic eraser.

Step One: Remove & Clean White Shoelaces

Shoelaces seem to get dirty quickly! If the rest of your shoe is clean, but your laces are dirty, it won’t matter much. So be sure to clean them regularly by tossing your white shoelaces in the wash with the rest of your laundry! It’s as easy as that. Just make sure to put them in a lingerie mesh bag. Trust me on this! You don’t want them to tangle up in the rest of your clothes and possibly ruin them. Once washing is complete, hang and air dry.

Step Two:  Get Rid of Surface Dirt

Over a sink or tub give your shoes a couple of taps to shake off any loose dirt. Then, with an old nail brush or white washcloth, lightly brush off any remaining dirt that might be stuck or still sitting on the surface of the fabric.

Step Three:  Grab A Magic Eraser To Clean White Suede Sneakers

Next, let’s clean the rubber soles. To do this, grab your magic eraser. I freakin’ love these! They are, in fact, magical! I often equate how much I use them comparable to how the father in My Big Fat Greek Wedding uses Windex.

Wet the Magic Eraser until it’s damp, and rub along the rubber soles. Most light stains should begin to come out with ease. If any tough scuff marks remain, continue to buff out with the eraser until it comes clean.

Step Four:  Use White Distilled Vinegar To Get Rid Of The Tough Stains

It’s important to note that this is to spot clean your white suede sneakers. If your kicks have become dove grey from the grime of hitting the city pavement, no amount of vinegar will help it. But, if you continue to spot clean, as well as keep your soles tidy and shoelaces washed, your kicks will continue to look white, fresh, and clean for the foreseeable future.

Now let’s grab that vinegar. Pour a small amount of distilled vinegar into a cup, and dilute slightly with water. Grab your toothbrush and dab into the solution you just made. Now, buff out any tough surface stains to clean your white suede sneakers. Be careful not to be too rough when buffing because you don’t want to ruin the nap of the suede.

Step Five:  Complete Cleaning Your White Suede Sneakers

Let dry and check over your work. Do any dingy or dirty spots remain? If so, gently repeat steps 3 & 4. If there are still stubborn marks on your rubber soles, dampen your washcloth with a dollop of rubbing alcohol and clean off anything that remains. Now all that’s left is to lace up!

Your kicks should now be white, clean, and refreshed.
